Joecat's Waste of Bandwidth

Does this scare you or do you think it is an exciting view of the future?

EPIC

It's a fictional look at what the Internet and publishing may look like in the year 2014. (There's no Museum of Media History.)

Foosball table

Hey, S, you're obviously wasting time, so take a look at this - Foos Wars.

Phidgets (physical widgets) are pretty cool. They let people without much hardware experience build devices that interface to a computer.

NASA's World Wind

Cool software to find satellite images. It's like you're almost there.

[As a by-product, downloading the the new version of DirectX required caused UT to run way faster! ..Not that I'm playing UT or anything.]

web-enabled, bluetooth ready footwear

..ok, I was joking, but Adidas has a shoe with a multiprocessor.

(Yes, it is an annoying flash site.)

When I was at UBC, a couple months from graduation from electrical engineering, a classmate said "I'm kill myself if I end up designing toasters or something." Well, what about running shoes?

My brother just got his brand new Mazda 3...[I'm not linking to the mazda site here because of its heavy use of flash - a pet peeve of mine. Wouldn't be able to link directly to the correct 'page' anyway.] Hmm...so both my brothers got brand new cars form my parents...when do I get mine? Oh, right...they paid for my university education.

On an unrelated note, if you have been living in a black hole like I have, google "miserable failure" to see what the #1 hit is.

Ridin' The Cow

On Saturday, I went up to Whistler with the UBC VOC to try teleskiing for the first time. It was just 5 of us including our instructor. Conditions were a little icy, but I had a great time. Hmm...just what I need -- another snow sport that I can be mediocre at. Well Anyway, it's a pretty good leg workout. I could barely walk yesterday and I'm still pretty tired today. I'm hooked though. Can't wait to go again.

I can't believe how little snow there is on Whistler.

Oh, in case your were wondering, 'riding the cow' refers to people still use leather boots, i.e. who haven't switched to plastic boots.

Tool overload

Too many tools and not enough time to try them out - what to use to blog, to create online galleries, write software?

Here's a useful tool del.icio.us. I had a similar idea a couple of years ago...I wonder what might have happened if I ran with it.
I haven't tried it yet, but it looks similar to CiteULike but for webpages.

Macintosh inventor and GUI Pioneer Jef Raskin has passed away.
